The classical music stars of today and tomorrow in Bad Ragaz

27.11.18

In February 2019, the who’s who of classical music will be meeting in Grand Resort Bad Ragaz. 35 artists from all over the world will enthral their audiences with their performances as part of the “VP Bank Classic Festival” from 8th to 15th February 2019. The organisers along with artistic director Drazen Domjanic and the committee of the NEXT GENERATION Festival Association once again prove their tireless quest for new and exceptional talent.

The ninth edition of the Festival Next Generation 2019 launches under the name «VP Bank Classic Festival». The Liechtenstein VP Bank has put its heart into supporting this festival for some years now; with this new name they are underlining their commitment to this engagement and cementing their collaboration with the organisers. Christoph Mauchle, Member of the Group Executive Management of VP Bank states, “We are proud to be sponsoring this unrivalled event which means we are also directly supporting the traditional culture of classical music.”

Alongside many established music stars there are also several up-and-coming young artists making their way to Bad Ragaz again between 8th and 15th February 2019 to provide evidence of their skills in the Kursaal centre. The musicians show their talent and intrepid nature in their choice of pieces including the high virtuoso works of Pablo de Sarasate, Fritz Kreisler’s melodies and classical pieces by Bach, Mozart and Vivaldi. In addition, there are also some pop tunes in the programme such as Jimi Hendrix’s “Purple Haze” and "Sympathy for the Devil" by the Rolling Stones.

The Esperanza Ensemble and their leader Chouchane Sirannossian, recently awarded the “Opus Klassik” in Berlin, once again form an important element of the coming festival. The young talents at the “VP Bank Classic Festivals” can profit from their experience and simultaneously have the chance to show off their own talent. This is the case for the 14-year-old German born violinist Clara Shen and also her fellow countryman, 15-year-old cellist Philipp Schupelius. Some artists will come a long way to be in Bad Ragaz: Jeff Yunzhe Wu from China (violin), Eva Gevorgyan from Russia (piano) or Can Cakmur from Turkey (piano), to mention a few. As this year’s “Artist in Residence”, Nuron Mukumi (piano) from Germany/ Uzbekistan and currently studying in Switzerland, can be heard in Grand Resort Bad Ragaz.

Tickets are available from CHF 20.00. Entry to the Opening Concert plus aperitif costs CHF 70.00 and tickets for the finale with gala dinner are available from CHF 190.00.
