The Gioja school project was initiated by the Caluori family. Dr. Peter Caluori, a physician, and his wife, Rita, have been operating various charitable projects aimed at poor people in Nigeria since 2004. In 2009, they founded the non-profit association “Afri’Ca”.
Around 180 children go to their nursery and school in Mgbele, Nigeria. They are looked after by twelve teachers and additional employees and receive a hot meal every day. The Grand Resort Bad Ragaz AG has supported the Gioja project in Mgbele since September 2010. As well as sponsoring the Gioja school project, the resort has also facilitated the construction of drinking fountains through various donations.
